A sensuous space of Oak and marble in Adelaide’s East End
Aesop Rundle Street is a light-filled space created in partnership with local firm Genesin Studio. Its design heightens a sense of openness through white walls adorned simply with product display shelves crafted from solid timber and blackened steel rods.
Blond Tasmanian Oak wraps the sensuous forms of three tablet-shaped counters and provides honey-toned parquetry flooring. In contrast to the resulting neutral tones and in subtle reference to the host building’s Victorian heritage, each counter is inlaid with antique green marble—the hue complemented by ferns spilling from custom-made planters.
A makeshift side table crafted from imperfectly stacked concrete disks on a rough-hewn timber base provides a raw counterpoint—appearing almost to hover in the entrance.
